Hawaii Hospitality SEO Pricing. What it actually
costs.

Most Hawaii hotel and hospitality operators get a "pricing on request" runaround when they ask agencies what the work costs. We publish ours.

This page documents the three tier bands we work in, what each tier typically includes, and what shifts the quote inside a tier. It is the cost side of the equation. For the return side, run your numbers through our companion Hawaii Hospitality SEO ROI calculator — it models 12-month OTA commission recovery against the same tier bands documented below.

Three Tiers.
Honest Bands.

Each tier is a band, not a number — because the right number depends on property count, source-market complexity, and the condition of what we inherit.

//.tier_01

Local Hawaii

$2,100 – $3,800

monthly retainer

Single-property hotels, B&Bs, vacation-rental operators, restaurant groups on a single island.

You're in this tier if

  • One physical location or property
  • Single source-market focus (typically US Mainland)
  • Site is technically functional — no full rebuild needed
  • Owner-operator or small marketing team coordinating the work

Typically includes

  • · Google Business Profile optimization + monthly maintenance
  • · Hawaii local citation building + cleanup (Yelp, TripAdvisor, OTA profiles, niche directories)
  • · On-site Local SEO: title, meta, schema, internal links
  • · 1–2 monthly content pieces (blog posts, location pages, FAQ)
  • · Monthly performance report + 30-min review call
  • · Light technical SEO maintenance (Core Web Vitals, indexing)
//.tier_02

Multi-Location Hawaii Hospitality

$3,800 – $10,200

monthly retainer

2–10 properties across one or more islands. Hotel collections, multi-venue operators, restaurant groups with island-wide footprints.

You're in this tier if

  • 2–10 properties or locations under one brand
  • Each location needs its own GBP + landing page
  • Multiple source markets (mainland + Japan or Korea or Canada)
  • Booking happens both direct + through OTAs (Expedia, Booking, Viator)

Typically includes

  • · Per-location Google Business Profile management
  • · Brand-level + location-level content strategy
  • · Schema architecture across the property portfolio (Hotel, LodgingBusiness, FAQ, Review)
  • · Technical SEO at scale — Core Web Vitals, log analysis, crawl budget
  • · AI search visibility tracking (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude citations)
  • · Conversion-rate work on the booking flow + direct-channel recovery
  • · Quarterly strategy session + monthly reporting call
//.tier_03

National + Hawaii

$5,500 – $15,300

monthly retainer

Hotel groups, destination wedding venues, charter operators, and tour brands serving Mainland US, Canada, Japan, and Korea source markets.

You're in this tier if

  • Audience spans multiple source markets
  • Direct-booking recovery is a strategic priority
  • Editorial and PR-grade content production is in scope
  • AI search optimization (GEO/AEO) is a board-level concern

Typically includes

  • · Multi-source-market keyword strategy (US, Japan, Korea, AU)
  • · Earned-media link & PR strategy — not paid links
  • · AI Search Optimization (GEO/AEO) program
  • · Competitive intelligence + monthly market briefings
  • · OTA-direct conversion strategy + parity-rate diagnostics
  • · Editorial content production at publishing-house cadence
  • · Monthly executive readout + quarterly strategic review

//.what_moves_the_quote

What Changes the Quote Inside a Tier

Two single-property hotels can sit in the Local tier and still get different quotes — sometimes $1,000+ apart per month. Here's what moves the number inside the band.

Number of properties or locations

Each location adds Google Business Profile work, dedicated landing-page maintenance, and per-location schema. A 3-property collection costs more than a single property even at the same source-market complexity.

Languages and source markets served

Adding Japanese or Korean adds translation, hreflang infrastructure, locale-specific content, and source-market-specific reporting. Mainland-only is the cheapest scope; multilingual + multi-source is the most expensive.

Current site condition

A site on a clean modern stack with healthy Core Web Vitals starts work earlier. A site on a legacy CMS, with thin content and indexation issues, eats the first 60–90 days on remediation. The technical-debt floor moves the quote up, not down.

OTA dependence and direct-booking targets

If a property is paying 18–25% to OTAs and wants to recover direct-channel share, the work expands to include rate-parity diagnostics, conversion-rate work on the booking flow, and email + retargeting that compounds over time. That's a different scope than ranking for "boutique hotel waikiki."

Content production volume

Two articles a month vs. eight a month is the single biggest swing inside a tier. Editorial-grade content with photography, expert review, and source citations runs higher than templated location pages.

AI search optimization scope

Tracking and earning citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude is now a discrete workstream — not an extra tag on existing SEO. Including it adds measurable hours; excluding it leaves a defensive gap.

What's Not in the Retainer

Pricing transparency only matters if the line items are also transparent. These are routine costs that some agencies bury inside a higher retainer. We bill them separately, at cost, when they apply.

Paid media spend

Google Ads, Meta Ads, OTA promotional spend — that's your media budget, paid directly to the platform. Our retainer covers strategy and management, not the spend itself.

Third-party tooling

BrightLocal, Ahrefs, Semrush, Profound, Otterly — pass-through subscriptions where you own the seat and the data. We can run them for you under our seats, or you keep ownership directly.

Photography & video production

Property shoots, drone footage, room imagery, behind-the-scenes video — quoted per shoot. We can coordinate or you can use your existing creative team.

Web rebuilds from scratch

If the site needs a full redesign or platform migration, that's a separate web design engagement — not folded into the SEO retainer.

PR retainers

If you need a dedicated PR firm for press placement and crisis comms, we partner with specialists — separately retained, separately billed.

Custom development

Booking-engine integrations, CRM connectors, custom landing-page templates — scoped per project. Not metered into the retainer.

Red Flags When You're Shopping Competitors

You will get pitched by other agencies. Some of them will be honest. These are the patterns to watch for that suggest you are being sold a packaged-up commodity, not a real engagement.

"Hawaii SEO from $799/month."

Hospitality SEO at this price means GBP edits and a few backlinks shipped from offshore. The unit economics do not allow for real strategy, real content, or real reporting at sub-$1,500 retainers — which is why agencies operating there typically inflate metrics later to justify renewal.

Fake-looking metric trios in case studies.

"+342% traffic, +189% leads, +231% revenue." Three suspiciously rounded percentages on every case study, no client name, no source URL, no time window. If a number is real, the agency can usually point at the client by name.

No named author on the agency's own content.

If their blog posts are anonymous, AI-generated, or attributed to "Marketing Team," they will treat your content the same way. Editorial standards the agency uses on themselves predict the standard they will use on you.

"Guaranteed first-page rankings in 30 days."

No reputable agency guarantees rankings, because rankings depend on Google's index, not the agency's effort. Anyone offering this is either selling branded-search rankings (which you already had) or about to do something that gets your site penalized.

Compromised or hacked own site.

Open the agency's own website in a fresh browser. If their site has spammy injected pages (pharmaceutical or casino slugs), they cannot secure their own domain — let alone yours. This is more common than you'd think among "Hawaii SEO" listings.

Zero AI search measurement.

If their proposal mentions Google ranking and ignores ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude, they are working from a 2022 playbook. AI search is now the discovery channel where booking research increasingly happens — see our AI Search Playbook for what current measurement looks like.

//.how_we_scope

How We Scope a Quote

The exact number for your engagement comes after a 30-minute call and a paid 7-day audit. We don't quote without seeing your site, your reporting, and your competitive context.

01

Discovery call (free, 30 minutes)

We talk through property count, source markets, current channel mix, OTA dependence, internal team, and budget context. At the end you'll know which tier fits, and we'll know whether we are the right fit for you.

02

7-day audit (paid, scoped)

A real audit of your current site, GBP, schema, AI search visibility, content depth, and competitive set. The audit deliverable is yours to keep regardless of whether you engage us — and the fee is creditable against the first month if you do.

03

Tier proposal with deliverables

A written proposal: which tier you sit in, the exact monthly number inside the band, the named deliverables, the reporting cadence, and what success looks like at 90, 180, and 365 days.
